Poem: Pocket Full of Sass: A Mental Health Anthem (Audio Book: Black History Month)
Pocket Full of Sass: A Mental Health Anthem by Ruben White
When they throw
shade like it's a sunny day,
Thinking your sparkle will fade away,
I'll strut like a peacock, feathers on display,
For my mind's a wild dance, come what may.
I will never be the less thing. But the
best thing since the invention of the pocket.
With their whispers like shadows, trying
to dim my light,
I'll shine like a disco ball, reflecting
pure delight,
My thoughts are a carnival, a colorful
sight,
So step back, my friend, you're not ready
for this flight.
I will never be the less thing. But the
best thing since the invention of the pocket.
Oh, they think I'm a puzzle, all jumbled
and bent,
But
I'm a masterpiece, darling, a work of intent, Like a fine bottle of wine, I'm
perfectly spent,
So sip on my wisdom, it's time to
relent. I will never be the less thing. But the best thing since the invention
of the pocket.
They try to toss daggers, sharp words like
a knife,
But I'm a rubber band, stretching back to
With laughter as armor, through chaos and
strife,
I'll dance through the storm, oh what a
delight!
I will never be the less thing. But the
best thing since the invention of the pocket.
So here's to the warriors, the quirky
and bold, With hearts full of stories, and spirits of gold,
We're not just surviving; we're breaking
the mold,
With humor as our shield, watch our
legends unfold!
I will never be the less thing. But the
best thing since the invention of the pocket.
