Poem: Colors of Love: A Reflection on Unity (African beats to read to for Spoken Word/Mental Health Awareness: Black History Month)
Colors of Love: A Reflection on Unity (Mental Health Awareness: Black History Month) by Ruben White
In the garden of
humanity, we plant our seeds,
Where love should bloom,
yet hatred breeds.
With arms outstretched in a warm embrace,
Why do we still see division in this place? If love is
color blind, why are there so many blinded by color?
A tapestry woven with
threads of gold, Stories of struggle, brave and bold.
Yet whispers of doubt
still linger near,
As we march for justice,
why do we fear? If love is color blind, why are there so many blinded by color?
In the mirror of life, we
see reflections,
Of dreams deferred and
missed connections.
But let us rise, with
hearts ablaze, To light the path through the darkest maze.
If love is color blind,
why are there so many blinded by color?
Oh, neighbor, dear, with skin like mine,
Let's
break the chains, let our spirits shine.
For in unity's song, we find our strength, Together
we'll go to any length.
If love is color blind,
why are there so many blinded by color?
So
let's paint the world in vibrant hues, With compassion and kindness, let's
choose.
For love knows no bounds,
it's a powerful force,
Let's steer our hearts
back to the right course.
If love is color blind,
why are there so many blinded by color?
In this dance of life,
let's take a chance, To hold each other in a sacred dance.
For when we love deeply,
we rise above,
And create a world that's
worthy of love. If love is color blind, why are there so many blinded by color?
