Charting the Course by Ruben White

Today's reflection brought that old saying to mind, "To know where you're going, you need to know where you've been." It feels especially relevant right now as I'm navigating some choppy waters in my mental health journey.

Looking back, it's like I've been sailing through a storm. There have been moments of calm, where the sun peeked through the clouds and the winds were gentle. But there have also been times of intense turbulence, where the waves crashed over me and I felt like I was drowning in anxiety and self-doubt.

But just like a seasoned sailor, I've weathered those storms. I've learned to adjust my sails, navigate around the rocks, and to find my bearings even when the compass seems to be spinning.

And that's where the "knowing where I've been" comes in. Each storm, each challenge, and each moment of despair has taught me something valuable. It's shown me my resilience, my strength, and my ability to rise again even when I feel knocked down.

These experiences and scars are not something to be ashamed of. They're my map, guide, and proof that I can make it through anything. They remind me that I'm not defined by the storms, but by how I navigate them.

So today, I'm charting my course forward. I'm using my past experiences to guide me toward calmer waters and brighter skies. I know there will be more storms ahead, but I also know I have the strength to face them.

Affirmations:

  • I am resilient.
  • I am capable.
  • I am worthy of love and happiness.
  • I am stronger than I think.
