"The Wibbly Wobbly Now" (Mental Health Poem/ Audio) by Ruben White

"The Wibbly Wobbly Now" by Ruben White

Oh, Depression's a

beast from the land of

Before,

It drags in regrets through a rickety

door. It whispers, "Remember that thing you messed up?

Here's a bucket of

sorrow; go drink it all

Anxiety's

different—oh yes, it's a trip!

It

ties you in knots with a future-slip grip. It says, "What if this?"

and "Oh no, what if that?"

Your mind's in a

tizzy—you're lost in its trap!

But here's a small

secret that most never

see:

The Now is a

gift—and it's worry-free!

Not stuck in the

past, not lost in "What's

Next,"

The Now is just

right, no need to be vexed.

The Present's a

kite in the bluest of skies, It soars on the breeze, never dips, never lies.

It's wild and it's

free—oh, the fun you can find,

When you leave

both the past and the future behind.

So if you feel

heavy from Yesterday's ache,

Or tomorrow's

"What ifs" make your confidence shake,

Remember the

Now—it's steady and clear, It's waiting for *you* with nothing to fear.

So dance with the

sunshine, or nap with the moon,

Sing loud to the stars, or hum a soft

tune.

For the Now is

your friend—it's always on cue,

It's perfect, it's

patient, and waiting for you.

This poem explores how dwelling on the past (depression) and worrying about the future (anxiety) can be detrimental to one's well-being. It emphasizes the importance of living in the present moment, which is described as a place of freedom and peace. The poem uses vivid imagery and metaphors to illustrate the contrast between the burdens of past and future and the liberation of the present.
