I Am (poem) by Ruben White
I Am by Ruben White
I am the wind that whispers across
the night,
Brushing
the faces of those lost in fright. I rise like the sun, though shadows may
linger,
Each dawn, I paint gold with an
outstretched finger.
I am the river that carves through
stone, Though mountains may try to make me their own.
I flow, relentless, bending not to
doubt, Knowing the path will find me out.
I
am the tree with roots in the deep,
Branches that
climb where eagles sleep.
Storms may rage
and lightning might scar, But I wear my wounds like celestial stars.
I am the drumbeat in a sacred song, A
cadence that marches, steady and strong.
When silence falls, I will not
retreat—
My soul taps rhythm beneath weary feet.
I am the quilt
stitched from struggle and grace,
Every square a trial I had to face.
Yet even the tattered corners shine,
For beauty is born in the heart's
design.
I am the ocean, vast and free,
Cradling both rage and tranquility.
Some days, I
thunder, and some, I sway— But no one decides how I dance or play.
I am the voice that cannot be tamed,
Echoing love, unburdened by shame.
For I am the poem, the prayer, the
plea, A tapestry woven eternally.
I
am here, I belong, I endure, I see— For every "I" holds infinity.
